I stopped applying for scholarships as most of them now are based on gender, race or sexual orientation. I got lucky when I first went to college for computer networking and security. I found a scholarship that involved writing an essay on your chosen career field that was limited to IT students, and I won that on merit which supplied 1500 per semester for a year. Not much, but it helped.
Moving there within a year or less.
It's just fear of sounding like an idiot. When I was training it was a rural flight school and there was no atc, just the guy who ran the airport and the pilots who were nearby to hear your intentions.
Non towered airports are fun, especially when you are relying on other pilots to state their intentions and they fail to do so, or say they are somewhere they aren't.

You wouldn't think that by the forums, especially the airline ones. I joined a few in order to get direct information from pilots about training and career progression and most of the content I came across didn't scream based.
I know most of the pilots I've met don't appear to be on the left, but, money became an issue and I had to stop my training.
Pilots and aspiring ones listen to flight audio for fun and for training purposes. Becoming mic shy is a real issue with pilots, especially when just starting out. I was one of those that said, psshhh, I ain't afraid of no mic and then I was tasked with notifying the tower of my intentions and the flight instructor even told me exactly what to say, pressed the button and ............. I couldn't even remember the tail number and it was literally right in front of me on the dash.
😂 Had to be careful not to do this while flying a DA20 as the mic button was right beside the trim.

From what I understand, they were caught in a sandstorm and the bulbous bow got stuck. I'm guessing that the wind+current wedged it into the canal. But, I'm not a boat captain, so I'm not positive.

I completely understand. I'll find myself going to a political site, usually ends up being the gateway pundit and its article after article about "Oh, we have the proof"! or "Conservative family protesting at the people's capitol arrested and held without bail for over a month"
Yeah, its getting bad and is only going to get worse because the left, the establishment and big tech now know that even though the patriots are armed to the teeth, the vast majority are lazy and are too comfortable with their lives to even remotely consider fighting in a revolution.
