If you can - get a tiny 2k watt AC generator and gas cans. Nearly everything you run at home that you 'plug in' can be run from one - from battery chargers to washing machines. I'm a super prepper - but I'm old and more realistic. These things are great. If cable goes out - that's one thing. But TV and Radio stations all have back up power and are independently isolated. No umbilical to get cut - or infected.
