When I was in elementary school we actually had to memorize this, that was back in the 90s though when history was still taught.
Lol I’m originally from Virginia but my husband is from Wv and when I first met his dad I had to get my husband to translate what he was saying because even though I’m also Appalachian his dad had a really thick accent and I couldn’t understand him. They also had words for things that I had to learn. For example his mom calls a bag a “poke” and his grandmother called a sofa a “Davenport”. I now live in Wv and i love it but it did take some getting used to the regional slang lol
In my state we have historic markers that tell why that particular area was significant to history and probably 90% of them say stuff like “Indians massacred innocent people here in 17**” so don’t give me that crap about white people being big ol meanies while ignoring all the scalping and rape that their people were involved in.
