Your officers are groomed for command right from the start, whereas your enlisted are the minions.
You are required to have a college degree to be an officer and be selected.
They are two separate career paths. One more technical or combat related, the other leadership oriented.
This is a throwback to earlier times when rich nobles would be put in positions of responsibility over soldiers.
It's basically a bullshit way to run things now days, but there is justification for keeping command and the troops separate on some level. -- it's harder to send people you might care about on a personal level out on what could be a lower chance for survival mission, for example.
NCO stands for non commissioned officer. They are an enlisted person who joined with a high school education level. They have served for a few years and have risen thru the ranks and due to experience have a certain level of respect and responsibility commensurate with rank. It is the job of an NCO to instill discipline and ensure adherence to uniform status.
The NCO's in charge should have put a stop to this clownfuckery. This is a ROTC shit show. (Reserve Officer Traning Corps). It is a contingent on a college campus where they train future Officers (those with a college degree) who have the education to lead, but as we can see here, no common sense.
Each of these contingents has an officer running it, and generally a compliment of NCO's to actually get things done and (make sure they are done right)
The NCO's should have stopped this disgrace. I hope those fucks got smoked when their leadership found out about this.
I served for 20 years. Some of my best people were women. That being said, some of my worst were women too. The pregnant ones were useless after 6 months pregnant, and I lost them for months after the birth.
This meant someone else had to pull their weight.
Granted I worked in computers and was able to accommodate them.
Once they had kids, they all had to be accommodated for double the doctors appointments, and child issues.
The good ones knew this and worked harder because they knew it. The good ones were more productive than many of the males I worked with because they knew that if they were, I would let them leave as needed to take care of their business. They knew if they didn't, I would make them pull their weight or do extra hours to compensate for the time they were gone.
The bad ones were useless from the start. They were sleeping with half the office, causing drama, and the second they got pregnant, they flat out quit working. Once the kids were born, they chose to use every excuse possible to weasel out of work.
The military doesn't allow for you to properly deal with the bad ones...you will just get accused of sexism or playing favorites.
The military doesn't allow you to punish troops properly regardless of sex. I found that you have to be extra careful dealing with minorities. If you got one that was a problem, you had to cover your ass first. You had to be a one man HR office. The paperwork to properly deal with them was guaranteed to cause you more hassle than it was worth. There is only ONE of you and often 20+ subordinates to deal with.
This doesn't even take into account half the people you get are useless and will never make a good IT tech. Some of them have never even owned, and currently did not own their own computer. I had to play the hand I was dealt, train the people I got, useless or not.
Some of them could be made useful, others I used as a body pool for volunteers for when the boss called and said some commander was doing some bullshit SJW event and needed a rent-a-crowd.
The good ones were taken care of, sent home early whenever I could, got the good deployments, while the others sat around and collected a paycheck.
Then, late in my career, after all the practice I had dealing with the above, Obama threw the "tranny" wrench into my operation.
The individual I got thrown into my operation was useless as fuck. He/she refused to get haircuts, wore fake tutties on night shift.
