Ok. I will keep this simple. Send me your definition of a tyrant. And I will link you to peer reviewed research and historical documentA detailing the actions that Lincoln took at the beginning of the Civil War. And after that I will simply leave it there and not argue any further.
Hey dude you’re the one who brought World War II and this when we were talking about the Civil War. So if you were going to go with the future as a reason for something that happened in the past then it’s fair game for me to bring up my own scenario. Which is absolutely correct if everything else stays the same and the US is not a super power. Now it is unlikely that everything would stay the same otherwise. But it’s equally stupid of you to think that if we hadn’t been there no other super power would’ve arisen. I’m talking about right and wrong. Not outcome. Lincoln was wrong and what he did was awful. We only remember him fondly because anybody who would have remembered him otherwise was imprisoned or killed.
Actually if we hadn’t gotten involved the Germans would have won WW1 and WW2 would likely not have happen as the Nazis rose to power based on resentment from how terribly they were treated. So that’s even better! KaiserReich!!Woo! And there would have been a strong local power to oppose the rise of the Soviets. The Tsar would never have had to abdicate and so his daughters wouldn’t have been raped by soviets and bludgeoned to death with rifle butts in a dark basement. Not to mention the Soviet rape, genocide, and enslavement of Eastern Europe never would have happened. Huh. Wow. Lincoln fucked the whole world up. What a dick head.
Yeah. It was decided at the state level. The Southern states voted to leave. Lincoln literally declared martial law in Maryland and threw elected officials in jail to stop Maryland from seceding. He arrested reporters from pro secession newspapers. He did this all to “preserve the union” arguing states didn’t have the right to independence based on the fact that those states had come into the Union at a mutual cost. Lincoln was a tyrant. He he’s only remembered so well because someone turned him into a martyr. That man threw the constitution in the waste bin, slaughtered 500,000 people not including innocent civilians or the theft/rape-athon the Union soldiers went on through the South, and then left the shattered pieces for other people to clean up. He was a monster.
Nah. I mean the right to break away never should have been denied. Part of why there is so much anger now is that you have people with no common interests being forced into the same system. What have I, someone who lives in the middle of the rural south, have in common with a Californian living in Los Angeles? Or even with a deep blue city like Atlanta? Why can 400 heavily populated blue counties conspire together to defraud thousands of Red counties. Because of that stupid war we can’t chart our own destiny anymore. So yeah. It was needless. They could have just let the south leave.
