Seems there is a logical flaw in this argument. Trump has not been convicted of insurrection and if the Senate votes to acquit he won't be convicted there either.
Our system presumes innocence until the individual has had due process and is convicted of a crime.
"Someone said" is not a valid cite. There is no mechanism in the US Constitution to impeach a private citizen.
As for your claim that someone can just leave office - see Richard M. Nixon. Leaving office does not protect you from subsequent criminal prosecution, which is why Pres Gerald Ford issued a pardon for Nixon.
Impeachment is a political solution to remove an elected official. That is all. And you cant remove someone no longer in office.
