Of course people's souls persist, even through late stage dementia, or while someone is under general anesthesia, or if someone is brain dead yet their body is still very much alive.
Their body is alive, but it some cases the body is so damaged the soul left the body. A body can be held artificial alive, but there are no responses from the person showing the soul is still there.
The statement you made yesterday was that souls do not enter the bodies of human babies until "a few weeks" after they are born. That's not my opinion, those are your words. And the reason I've been pushing back against you is because that is an absurd and completely baseless notion.
You are entitled to have an opinion, but you are not entitled to rule or have any legally vote over a woman's right to abortion. A body inside a woman is just a body until it is outside of a woman, and it is first after birth that that body is ready to recieve a soul.
What is inside your or anyone else's body is their property. The baby that is born changes ownership when it is outside of the woman and a soul enters. The woman now has the responsibility for that helpless baby in its upbringing.
There are facts and then there are opinions. It is a fact a human being is more than just a physical body. The soul does not enter the body until it is ready to recieve the soul. The soul does not leave the body until it is completely uninhabitable. You can remove the heart and replace it with an artificial one. You can remove half the brain and the person is still there.

The woman is the owner of what is inside her body, and can do whatever she wants with it (including abortion), until the baby is born. The baby doesn't have a soul until a few weeks after it is born or else it would be murder doing abortion.
Sometimes pregnancy can have complications and abortion is needed for the woman to survive or she could die.
Just because there is a beating heart doesn't mean it has a soul. People have been severly brain injuried to a vegetable status that there is no longer reasoning functions, and putting them off lifeline support is therefor the right thing to do.
Who is to say that the vast quantity of sensory memory from our time in the womb is not similarly "stored" in the deep recesses of our brain?
Where are those who remembers sensory memory from their mother's womb?
