There’s a process to amend it but they don’t know how to get the votes or even what they would amend it with. They already voted to do nothing on the charter, so all they have left is empty posturing like good little liberals.
I live in Minneapolis. Turns out the City Council found out they don’t have legal authority to defund the police (after they voted to defund the police). Our city charter mandates funding for the police. Nobody knows how to amend the charter so they can’t do anything, except whine. So their new strategy is to whine about the police while not doing anything.
