Question - What fraud will a vote audit catch? What fraud will it miss? How do vote audits work???
by
My understanding is that audits take place at the ballot level, whereas a recount is at the machine level.
An audit is nearer to scrutinising all legal ballots, than a recount.
An audit considers the validity of physical ballots.
One problem might be that recounts are a re-querying of the tabulator machines, not a physical count of ballots. We need to be careful on the inquiries we accept.
That being said, Georgia have just announced a full manual recount of "every single legal vote". We need more of this!
It's a strange article to find here.
Although, they are a big part of the problem.
