If you're going to build a Ham radio, make sure that it uses valves and that you have spares.
We have a couple of MBRs (and long and short barreled things) , A load of water, rice and beans (if you have to plant them you can), water filters and a vantage point. We also have home made video surveillance that records and reports via email and wifi. We have a car that while a bit wobbly would, most likely, survive an EMP strike, think about getting something with no electronics, they are quite cheap. Ours is from 1973 from ebay.
