That’s not the true issue. The issue was that there was some shitty doctors that would call out 60, 120, 180 tablets for multiple friends and family members. They would hoard HCQ. And there would potentially be none for the chronic patients. The blocks were put into place to limit those quantities. COVID could still be treated with HCQ BUT only limited to 14 day supply or so. The goal was to maintain supply FOR YOU. Any pharmacist worth his or her salt would see your history and override any block.
Pharmacist here. The first night I worked after the announcement I had two different doctors that tried to call in scripts for hydroxychloroquine for friends and family. I refused because it would have obliterated my stock for my chronic patients. It was a problem then, not so much now. And there is a simple override if your pharmacist just reviews your history or counsels you to determine as such.
