yeah man, I read through amendment 12 in the constitution, as well as ECA act of 1877, and article 2 section 1, along with the USC codes 3 5,6,15.

Tell them you are uncomfortable, and ask them why did they switch.
Don't take a retarded answer as to why they switched. Really think about the answer they give, and see if it makes sense. If anything strikes you as not a good reason, hammer that point right back in their face, calmly but forcefully.
Stay on that point, use your brain, use strict logic.
