I had a thought today that maybe the Deep State threatened to attack multiple US cities via China or Iran, and Trump wasn’t willing to let that happen. I don’t think he turned his back like the article says at the end, I just think something short-term catastrophic was legitimately threatened.

Yes! This is a true phenomenon. I read a book about how people as a whole act in emergency situations. It’s something like 60% freeze and just wait for leadership, 30% have a screaming meltdown, and 10% step up and take action.
