No of course not. These are people who just write opinion pieces. There's not a single reporter or journalist (whatever those are nowadays) at Slate. Literally every single article there is "this is what I think about this thing". When they do their explainers, they're just explaining what their opinion is.

And when I say "opinion" I don't mean their own opinion. It's the opinion assigned to them during editorial meetings. There's no cognitive dissonance because there is no thought, no memory, just write what you're told.

I work and live among these people. Believe me, they think they're right about everything and that the best thing they can do with their lives is explain to you how you should live yours. They are absolutely shocked that not everyone thinks like they do outside their big shiny glass city.
