Making a perfectly legal hunk of plastic ILLEGAL one day, is an example of an ex post facto law. Worse, the ban constituted an illegal taking. What were bump stock owners to do? Either surrender their formerly legal hunks of plastic to the police, or destroy them. NO compensation was offered.
The government has the power of eminent domain, to take your property to build a highway on ramp, or a hospital, or a border wall, for example. Yes, government can take your property, but it MUST compensate the property owner for what is taken. That didn't happen, did it?

We could speculate about whether bump stock owners chose to take their chances with law enforcement, to hide their bump stocks rather than getting rid of them, but the point is, they all faced legal problems if they were caught with them after Trump's diktat.

I remember when Trump singlehandedly saved steel/aluminum plants here in the US, with a combination of an energy policy that brought us low and stable energy prices, relaxed regulation, AND tariffs on China to combat them dumping their shit in the US. There aren't any lower charges. Had they tossed in something like failure to stop and render aid, maybe they'd have a case for that. But they didn't. They want to fuck him over HARD.
It's going to be a hung jury. Some or most of those folks have to have an agenda they are going to fuck him no matter what. I just hope that there are some who actually apply the legal standard. Is there reasonable doubt? Did Kirby have a lethal dose of fentanyl combined with other drugs in him? Lethal? Did he wig out and fight with cops, have severe heart disease AND the Wu flu? Does it seem possible, even reasonable, that all that, including a fatal dose of drugs actually killed him?
I mean, it seems so probable to me, that I have more than reasonable doubt that Chauvin didn't kill Kirby. We just need one or a few jurors to acknowledge the obvious, and hang the jury.
If Chauvin didn't kill Floyd (he didn't) then no jury nullification is necessary to vote not guilty. Jury nullification would be more akin to what happened in the OJ trial. The jurors found OJ not guilty because they didn't want to convict him, even though they knew he was guilty.
To your basic point, though, I agree. It only takes one courageous juror to say not guilty to force a hung jury. I hope that one or several of the jurors have the courage of their convictions to do that.
