I agree, historical precedent shows that a simple Senate majority can disbar someone from running for President. However, the legal dispute comes in when you question when the Senate has the right to do such a thing. Most legal scholars agree that you can only do this process if the person in question has been impeached and convicted. There are some people who say this can occur with only impeachment, but again, this is a very small minority and a very big legal stretch.
If in any case Schumer decides to use the nuclear option for this basis, it would 100% be challenged by the GOP and Trump as well, resulting in a SCOTUS case. Not only that, this would set an EXTREMELY dangerous precedent.
