While I agree with most of the comments here, remember, PV is not for us. This is for the NPC's who need to hear stuff like this to shake them out of their slumber. OK, this from an old fart who watched it being grown since about 1980's. It's called "The Self Esteem Movement." And it royally fucked up the next two generations, as you can see here.
Effusive praise for the smallest thing. No criticism. No critical thinking training. No challenges. No debate. No disagreements. The kids were wrapped in caution tape and bubble wrap (metaphorically, but you get the picture.)
The ones having the hardest time right now are the kids whose parents did this the most. Yes, some of this happened in schools, but this was a home project brought on by parenting groups and stupid parenting magazines.
As a corporate teacher and outside consultant, I had to deal with this all the time. One employee was very upset that I didn't congratulate him for coming to work on time every day his first week. He walked into my office and "confronted" me about my "unfair practices" which he was going to REPORT to the owner. I laughed and asked him to please let me be there when he reported me to one of the toughest, roughest, no-nonsense men I'd ever met. This guy could have been an enforcer for the Mob, if you get the picture. When i told the kid that he was welcome to try, but out in the real world we all show up for work and don't expect medals, he lost it.
Apparently the kid spoke with another employee in the lunch room about all these crimes. Thankfully, that employee convinced him to quit. Yay! Always wonder what came of him. Sad -- to me raising a kid like him and like this girl is child abuse.
