Because Soros and his ilk runs the Dems, and The Koch brothers and their ilk have run much of the Republican party for decades. And all of these ilks want the same open borders. Thus you have had two parties that wrestle over power but the one thing they agree on is that immigration (illegal+legal) from the 3rd world must be as high as possible.
Twitter, and the MSM, is owned by entities that make their money elsewhere. The purpose of controlling/owning Twitter isn't to make money from Twitter per se, but to control the narrative and then, since the narrative furthers their agenda, they make far more money elsewhere than they miss out on through Twitter/MSM etc.

Swedish pede here. Our democratic socialist, globalist liberal feminist and Greta-worshipping government has fucked up big time, as one would expect. Corona numbers are growing faster than in all our neighbouring countries that did shut down sooner and more efficiently, and our death rates are way higher.
Now our government is beginning to realize that the hands-off policy is a disaster and is demanding emergency executive powers to be able to panic lockdown more alike our neighbours.
A couple of problems though:
We have a ton immigrants from the Middle East and Africa. Epidemic is spreading fast among them because they are too stupid and arrogant to realize that the voluntary social distancing that our government has encouraged also apply to them. So you have ethnic Swedes to a fair extent respecting the social distancing and similar measures, but hordes of Arabs and Africans running around as before, some even trolling ethnic Swedes and elderly by coughing on them (that's migrant comedy for ya).
Secondly, our liberal governments had cut down resources for defence and emergencies meaning we do not have the ability, like the US, to deploy military hospitals and such, because we have none.
Thirdly, our politically correct authorities have spent the last 20 years preparing all entities of public services, that used to give us preparedness in case of war or pandemic, to focus on gender equality, HBTQ issues, racial justice, and climate change questions, instead of actually preparing for emergencies. So our public service apparatus is now great at making sure we handle the crisis according to social justice dogma, but unfortunately uncapable of handling the crisis itself.
Sorry OP, but you have been fooled by the likes of the NYT or CNN to think that Sweden is anything but an absolute clusterfuck right now.
In the Netherlands the farmers are rising up rn, taking no more manure from the government. Unfortunately the farmers are a tiny fraction of the people so the government will continue to abuse them.
I guess the farmers could try stop growing weed for the urbanites, that may be a last ditch desperate measure that might work.
