I think you're assuming that if a given man isn't pursuing marriage, then he's going full-on hedonist. Not true, many men are just completely walking away from women and not even bothering to date. I am currently spending zero time or money looking for women. And if I was I wouldn't be using dating apps or bars as a locale for serious relationships. The fact that I meet a woman at church would mean nothing when it comes to family law and hypergamy.
Add in things like false-rape allegations, then you'll see why men are inclined to take the Mike Pence approach and never be alone in a room with a women no matter who she is.
If some women don't want to get married, that doesn't change the fact that men get zero benefits from it, and dismissing men as 'noncommittal' shows a massive lack of understanding regarding the current family legal system and what the ramifications can be for men. It's not that every women wants to ruin a man's life... it's that any women can. Why take the risk? This isn't complicated.

How is marriage awful for women in any sense? What difficulties do they face? They can leave at any time for any reason, and have an overwhelming chance of winning child custody, alimony and child support - whether the man can afford it or not. Men gain zero advantages by getting married. A woman can get caught cheating and still fuck the man over financially thanks to our feminized society. Prenups are almost useless, I wouldn't rely on one. Marriage damages your career and body? That's a really weird argument to make... 90%+ of deaths on the job are male, not female. I thought in our brave new world, women could have it all? As for housework, most entitled Western women will expect men to do half, despite being the man being primary income source as well. I don't buy the whole 'man works a job, wife stays home and they split duties equally' concept. That isn't how modern Western women act.
Marriage currently is an awful proposition for men. There is zero upside for a man to get married. If the laws change, then fine, but until then we will see fewer men get married. Age when marriage is occurring is getting pushed later and later because younger men are seeing how easily a woman can destroy a man's life (and his kids' lives at the same time).
