Sure but there is a time and a place. My dad and sister are both over educated, ivory tower NPR listener types. They simply cannot be wrong regardless of the situation. I have a choice, I can just cut them out of my life entirely or find common ground and enjoy them without bringing politics into it. Granted they both have been shut down by me in debate in my more aggressive youth but at a certain point I came to realize I was being the aggressor by instigating arguments. They likewise know to keep the peace instead of poking.
Granted this perspective changes entirely if they are the one confronting you. At best I will bite my tongue, I will not lie and misrepresent my perspective if someone else wants to challenge me.
I'm trying to say that right now we all feel persecuted and rightly so. Just be mindful not to lash out when there is no upside. If you are particularly charismatic then by all means spread the truth as you see it to all willing to listen.

Most people who are open minded already hold opinions that don't align with the mainstream and will debate in good faith. The rest won't so if you don't have an audience to sway what's the point? Why not just maintain harmony instead? You should generally know how the other party will react. If it's a stranger again, what's the point?
