If republicans pushed for an under oath hearing i'd bet that dems would push for a closed door hearing citing "sources & methods" or some other dem deflection nonsense.
Not that protecting sources & methods isnt ever valid. But dems have definitely used it as a bogus shield before.
Freedom of speech isnt about good/bad i think. Its simply necessary. As with many things that are necessary for life to go well, it isnt always sunshine & roses. And if it wasnt an nigh absolute , enshrined right it wouldnt take a day for those with political, social or economic power to start silencing those they disagree with. Which is already happening. How much worse do you imagine it would be if the bill of rights didnt stand in the way of these communists?
Like with the Westboro protest supreme court case, the idea is that even speech we find reprehensible is protected. Thats entirely the point.
Ive been thinking of something encouraging to say that isnt related to my faith, but im coming up a bit dry. I think that as easy as it is to see how poorly things look nationally, that we're seeing a particular slice of whats going on in america.
i think this is what the media/dem folks want you do see and be disheartened, but perhaps the truth is more like this. I sure know that consuming too much media about all the garbage in the country brings me down at times. Im reminded of a quote of someone asking a Christian apologist about why God doesn't intervene when a plane is going to crash, and his response was that "why dont people praise god for all the planes that get where they're going?". I say this not get into a debate on faith but to point out that, for every awful occurence that gets blasted across the country, there are many similar situations turn out perfectly fine that are never reported. How many police interactions end up peacefully, or with the officer deciding not to pursue something at their discretion?
I think im rambling but i hope this was in some way slightly uplifitng.
I've been a bit bummed by things recently, but i have to keep reminding myself that God is bigger than US politics and that however bleak things may seem, however backwards society may get that ultimately He is in control. Thats not a license for apathy though, gotta go vote and make an impact where I can.
DFW, Austin, San Antonion and Houston would've all closed anyway. Getting out in front of it with a state order was probably not a bad idea. Because you cannot trust the leadership in the big cities to have the peoples best interests in mind.
The thing about Trump being abrasive, is that so far hes only really been abrasive to people that are playing the game. Hes not calling regular folks rude names, hes hitting back at people who hate him. Biden is just being mean to people who've done nothing to him.
The first amendment does protect against compelled speech. But i very much doubt that any sane judge, i wonder if they appealed in the 9th circuit, would extend that to corporations not wanting to disclose their prices on the basis of greed.
Yea but i can't see where either soros or that pac gave money to Abbott maybe im wrong. This post is some bullshit i think. Theres a list of donors in texas generally that contains the soros donation to Texas Justice & Public Safety PAC.

At some point Soros gave 652k to a leftist PAC in texas, how does this connect to abbott whatsoever?
