With Common Core standards and a national department of education, and a cabal of textbook publishers, unions, and state boards... there is precious little the local school board can do regarding curriculum.

Buy the smallest house you can stand. Dont worry about being in a "good" district if you're not using it. Use the savings and reduced taxes to pay for private school or offset the 2nd income you may have to give up!
I respectfully disagree. The teachers have them 8 hours a day. Their methods are refined. The kids WANT to conform. It is a machine. You may be successful with your kids.. but this progressive system is winning way more battles than it is losing.
