There's goes the "That's MISTER Potato Head to you!" joke from Toy Story.

Remember that time they showed the footage of the ER in Italy and attributed it to NYC?

I, too, remember the footage coming out of Wuhan and the countless bodies in hospitals. I remember the footage of the Chinese woman suffering from extremely labored breathing. I remember seeing Chinese authorities wearing hazmat suits and chambering their pistols before heading into apartment buildings. I remember all these things and yet I haven't seen anything like it since.

I had a nasty bought with a virus a year ago that resulted in the use of copious amounts of tissue paper, chills, and loss of taste/smell for about a week. If I went in today with those symptoms I'm almost certain I would be diagnosed with COVID-19.

It's a little different. It'd be like if USPS were privatized and then created another subsidiary that operates in other countries.

I get your meaning though; if you can ensure nationwide coverage and cheap mail delivery then there's nothing wrong with a private, utility-like courier service, though UPS and FEDEX (and DHL, for that matter) might have something to say about it.

I do believe a postal service is a fundamental aspect of a functional modern government so I have no problem with a publicly funded one, particularly to handle official letters and to reach areas that are not serviced by private carriers.

That being said, the USPS has been such a shitshow for years and it rewards incompetence. My family orders a ton of stuff and by far the most issues we've had have been with USPS whether they be delays or poorly handled letters and packages.

One thing I'm gleaning from the thread is that some posters have mentioned the possibility that some numbers may have been vastly exaggerated regarding certain death totals from the 1930s and 1940s. Another thing probably being discussed is that there was a person who may not have been the pure embodiment of evil as he or she has been depicted since WW II.

Like things that you're not allowed to even hypothesize publicly without fear of losing everything.

Never understood why the Pats defense slept on the job.

The Pats routinely fielded very good defenses and offenses, what are you talking about?

This was truly his biggest and most egregious mistake. He should have sacked everyone from the Obama administration and all but the most qualified lifers from government.

It might be another nudge toward California splitting up. That's a pretty far-fetched fantasy at this point but it's not an impossibility.

The company will be fined and receive some light sanctions and then it'll be back to business as usual.

Meanwhile, you bet your ass that the SEC, FBI, and IRS are going to come after the plebs who dared beat their hedge fund buddies at their own game.

Have you ever seen Casino or 21? Guess what happens to people who figure out how to beat the house.

There's a legitimate use case for this when you're asked a question about facts and you don't know the answer. Kayleigh would do this probably once or twice a presser but she would say something like "I don't know but I can get those answers/figures for you after this press conference."

We're only a week and a half into this presidency and there's already a >30s supercut of the number of times the press secretary couldn't answer a question? That's ridiculous.

Immediately what came to mind. It's unfortunate that citing 1984 is so cliche these days but with every passing day it somehow becomes even more relevant and prophetic.

Vince has made some shockingly bad decisions over his lifetime and that has to be close to the top of the list. To this day people still refer to it as the WWF.

Yea, people who were stuck in their homes without their circuses for months on end were simply apathetic toward sports because of COVID. People who were gearing up for opening day and March Madness just decided they didn't like watching sports anymore. I'm sure it had nothing to do with the virtue signaling and anti-American sentiment being spewed from every sports organization at every level.

Whoops, I read it as 2/3 of the Senate being required to be present.

So if GOP Senators decide not to show up then they can't convict. If only the GOP had any principles or convictions at all to derail this absolute sham.'

Shoot, read that wrong.

I told my wife if Texas ends up seceding we'll be heading there in the relatively near future. We just bought a house so that complicates factors but this clown nation is getting nuttier by the day.

The source of the problems is the man making the decisions.

What the fuck good would that do? Trump could have done this; he doesn't need McConnell's permission.

1
chinesevirus 1 point ago +1 / -0

Oh no a man had an opinion about Donald Trump therefore he should be railroaded and fucked by the system.

Fuck you and your cult of personality bullshit.

Sounds like a pretty shitty deal. Ultimately he's the one who brought these people onboard - it was his final decision, unless, of course, the President actually doesn't make these decisions.
