A "wrap up smear" is classic Democrat tactics to essentially seed a story in the media and then wave that article around as evidence for their truth.
Kind of like the whole Spygate thing. The CIA seeded multiple false stories with the media, compliant politicians (Harry Reid & John McCain), and the FBI; then, they washed that back and forth until it built up enough steam to do official spying and trample all over President Trump's civil rights and privacy.
So, yeah, sounds like their thing.

- The democrats know they are going to get trounced
- The democrats probably know that they are going get trounced even in some blue states
- The democrats will cite these failures as an explotation by Trump and Trump supporters to throw elections in BLUE states to Trump.
- And, of course, the democrats will use these failures to substantiate their legal claims (You can hear them argue... "Look at all these media reports of lost mail! These voters were disenfranchised. We can not [send electors] until the court hears _______" (and fill in the brackets with their narrative to block, cause chaos, and create as many Constitutional Crises as possible)

It really just takes people that are different to sit down for more than a few minutes, over a cup of coffee/beer, and everyone will learn the following about one another:
- Their life has probably sucked in certain ways, just like yours has too
- Their life has probably had some awesome shit happen, just like yours has too
- Their life has had ups and downs, just like yours has too
- They are probably excited and scared about what the future might hold, just like you too
And, then most people from differing backgrounds with vastly different ideas and even various different hair colors ;) realize --we're born, we live, and we die; how we conduct ourselves is what makes our lives matter.
