The guy who got 1% in the CPAC straw poll is the leading Republican nominee, sure. If Pence was the nominee, the Democrats wouldn't bother cheating in 2024 as it would be an automatic win anyways. Don't get me wrong, I have no doubt Trump will have to keep a close eye on Pence. Pence is surprisingly ambitious and ruthless, and will have big money backers.
