The Vice President can accept them at his will, because they are the votes that have been certified and sent to the electoral college. It wasn’t pence’s choice. When there is an objection to a states electors, he has two choices. He can ignore the objection and count the electors anyway which is not what we wanted him to do, or he can recognize the objection which is exactly what we needed him to do and he in fact did. In the case of the later, senators and or reps, depending on who objected, go back and debate and then vote on whether to sustain the objection. In neither case, senators or reps, did republicans have enough votes to sustain an objection. At that point pence’s hand are tied.
