the outcome of the recent case is thus:
Electors CAN go faithless and vote however they want, and that vote is official and counts. States can punish electors for voting 'wrong' after the fact however they want. (as long as due process, jury of peers, equal protections, cruel and unusual punishments etc are not violated)
Electors are still free to 'take one for the team' in order to save the democracy.

BY LAW, all ballots most be collected and brought to the pollingplace by 8:00 pm IIRC in PA, but they showed up with random boxes of ballots to be 'mixed in' with the ones still being counted at 4 am, and then the next day more where collected from drop boxed that were supposed to be SEALED SHUT on election night but where left open so people sould still drop additional ballots in the following days..
