Doing it "wrong" has to be more annoying. Then they have to hold in their aggression while being unmasked is something people are confronted about squarely.
I've been testing my limits and I can go mask under nose the entire time grocery shopping. What you have to get over is the initial concern that someone will "catch" you for doing it wrong. It's YOU that you have to overcome, first. I try to remind myself that everyone else is usually just thinking about themselves and their own lives so aren't overly concerned with how I'm wearing it.
I already pushed limits early on by cutting out all the white layers of the mask leaving only the colored front. Even that masks bothers me because of what it symbolizes (me pretending several lies are true).
I'd rather someone utter I'm an idiot under their breath than wear the mask so - take it how it comes. What's noticeable is that others tend to mimic behavior. You may see enough people with it worn badly that others do it too.
