I don't have experience with a generator at home here in South Louisiana but at work we used a second-hand, massive Generac that was very, very reliable on natural gas. Only maintenance we scheduled was to twice a year manually crank it up to make sure it's running well. It ran a 5k square foot lodge with commercial refrigeration and an adjacent 1200 sq office / pro shop with ease.

Corporate supermarkets - we call em grocery stores - imply that we need one to shop but I only experienced any pushback in the beginning of the flu scare at Winn Dixie. I haven't been in Walmart but went to Lowe's yesterday and didn't even get the evil eye once while I shopped and bought propane maskless. I also shop at Winn Dixie and a local New Orleans-born grocery chain Rouse's Supermarket.
