The part they are missing is that humans will do ANYTHING to avoid starvation. The only way people really understand this is when they go hungry, but the elite never go hungry.

Societies can always be brought back to subsistence farming. Just look at Detroit for example. Just a few years ago, Detroit had a farm plot on every ghetto corner.
