Well I would say a typical installation is very much compromised, regardless of which accounts you used for configuration. The malware was very sophisticated and was used to steal the Team Red tools from FireEyes and siphon off the emails from the department of Commerce and the Treasury.
It is also common to allow outbound connections (except for most DoD deployments), and that was all it took to activate this malware. So this does not only affect the ignorant or lazy, this is a severe security breach and a really sophisticated attack by whoever - but most probably by a state actor.
