Among 3,711 Diamond Princess passengers and crew, 712 (19.2%) had positive test results for SARS-CoV-2 (Figure 1). Of these, 331 (46.5%) were asymptomatic at the time of testing. Among 381 symptomatic patients, 37 (9.7%) required intensive care, and nine *(1.3%) died( (8)
Again, a > 1% death rate in a highly contained well studied cruise ship outbreak where everyone was throughly tested. Over 1 fucking percent with 10% requiring intensive care. This isn't just another flu season.
How many had the infection but were asymptomatic?
Very few people who tested positive for covid on the Grand Princess or the other cruise ships were asymptomatic. The percentage of asymptomatic cases in this pandemic is probably far far lower than you're estimating.
Politicians take the money via taxation.
They give pennies on the dollar to hospitals, laundering the other money or using it for pork projects to stay in power.
A crisis comes, and their medical system is overwhelmed. Three cheers for socialized medicine.
The plague wasn't fatal to most people (by definition). But check out who.int and theit dashboard that currently shows 135k confirmed cases and nearly 6k deaths and tell me a 4% mortality rate is no big deal. With America having 300 MM people, that could lead to 12 MM deaths or higher if we overwhelm the healthcare system. At this point, there is no guarentee we can contain it or a vaccine will be found in time.
To play devils advocate though, we don't know what the real infection count is. It could be far greater than 135k, which would be good news, as the mortality rate then shrinks considerably. But, until we can confirm that, everyone is expecting the worse.
Perfect.
One more. I imagine as a mod tool, you'd want to be able to give accalades for good posts. With enough mod credit, it could allow a user more power on the site. An upvote or downvote from a high level user would move a post to the top moreso than a vote from a newb. Mod invites, etc, could all be targeted based on prior mod approval. This would put based users in a position of greater power, as it should be.
I'd like to see other channels. Allowing just anyone to create a channel could spiral out of control, but expanding to include common and popular other offerings and hand picking the mods would keep me from ever needing reddit.
a thedonald/td/gonewild would be fun. we could easily support the_europe. i'm sure others have ideas of additional channels they'd like to have
Democrats have all this emotional testimony of impeachment and their duty under thr law, but nobody can point me to a single time in history where dems have gone this forcibly after one of their own. Impeachment is an obvious hit job.
bugs: session times are too short. imo, a session should be good for 24 hours minimum
the front page has looked the same for way too long. the algo should leave no post on the front for more than 8 hours max imo
suggestions: allow a full exodus of the other sire by allowing the creation of other doms.
