I'm sheltered-at-home near Dayton rn with my future in-laws and finacee, all of whom are allegedly conservatives, but nobody seems to be concerned about what they are being told to believe by Amy Acton and her sidekick DeWine. Everyone is buying these fucking "2PM Wine with DeWine" coffee mugs and pretending that the data hasn't been fallible from the beginning. The same people who were arrogant and foolish enough to estimate 100,000 active cases of COVID-19 on 3/12 based on a single instance of community spread are now telling me what the data says and how I should feel about it as they close more industries every afternoon indefinitely, without releasing the logic of their data model or any guidance as to when the hospitals will have reached adequate preparedness to start letting certain industries re-open. Effectively communicating, "we have no idea how to set up our algorithms and we blew projections by a staggering amount in the beginning. But you definitely need to feel concerned and report anyone who is congregating in public to local authorities. Stay at home, probably until June, probably longer, we don't fucking know" which is unacceptable.
Needless to say, myself and hopefully a significant number of other people will never vote for DeWine again. I don't even care whether his approach is laudable at this point. I feel insulted enough by the obviously fake and misleading projections, headlines, and statements being used by him and his team of alleged professionals that I couldn't imagine supporting anyone involved.
