There’s probably a lot of homeless people in the crowd. McPherson square just a block northeast of the BLM plaza is a major homeless gathering point in the city where they bring meals. Someone also pointed out that the AFL-CIO (union building) is right there...
Most of the brand name DC area hotels are privately owned by different developers. If they decide to close it would be due to the independent owner and not the hotel chains like Hilton or Marriott. That being said, it’s unlikely that a large hotel chain will close down given profits have been so bad this year.
I think someone explained this the other day as a “pocket veto” which allows the bill to be sent back to congress for revisions. He waited the full timeline to veto it and request changes before sending it back to essentially run out the clock for the current congressional session.
From Pensacola. It’s hard to tell if this is normal or not since I haven’t lived there for 10 years. There’s multiple military bases around the area including one of the largest naval air bases in the country but they wouldn’t have need for ground vehicles like this.
I’ve never seen something like this in the 18 years I lived there and both of my parents worked on base. Usually we just have cargo trains through Pensacola.
From the dc metro area. The mayor made an announcement Friday or Saturday that all restaurants & bars were to go on full lockdown for the next three weeks. It’s likely that they will try to shut the whole city down, metro included. If you stay in northern Virginia, you can walk to downtown DC even if the metro gets closed. Not sure what they can do if people start camping on the national mall... it should be federal property not DC property.
You can park at any metro station with a lot and take the metro in. If you park in Virginia along the blue/yellow/orange lines, there are multiple walking/bike trails that lead into the city if the mayor closes down the metro. Not too sure about the Maryland side in terms of alternate access to metro. A lot of hotels will offer shuttle service to the metro or airport as well, you’ll just need to call ahead to check what the COVID restrictions are.
Just posted about this. ABC Imaging at 2001 M Street should be open tomorrow and does same day large format printing.
