Arbery could have very well been armed for all they knew and they would need their guns. It's possible that they preemptively brandished their weapons, which would be wrong. But we do not see that on the video.

I'm just breaking down the facts. Nothing they did was illegal from the facts presented. It appears that they were attempting to perform a LEGAL citizens arrest to hold him until the police arrives(who they were on the phone with). He escalated and initiated the violence by physically attacking them and trying to take the gun.

If they pointed their guns at Arbery before he attacked or threatened them, they would be in the wrong there and it would further complicate the case. It still wouldn't excuse Arbery of attacking them and going for the gun. That is suicide, there are 3 armed guys there and you are gonna go for one of their guns? Open carry is legal. Parking a truck is legal. Trying to talk to someone you think is suspicious is legal. And if they were planning to make a citizens arrest because they had identified him as the perp who has been caught on video multiple times coming back to that neighborhood and stealing stuff, THAT is also legal. We dont know if they were planning to make a citizens arrest and hold him for the police or just talk to him - because he fucking attacked them and tried to steal their gun. More importantly, Arbery initiated the violence. He attacked a guy with a gun and tried to wrestle the gun away from him. Never mind that there were two other armed guys there. So fucking dumb. How did he, or the other people REEEing possible think that could end? He either succeeds in stealing the gun and uses it on the owner, then gets shot but his friends.
