These riot police didn't go to the right staircase, they go to a largely unoccupied staircase and never go over to the one with all the protestors. I didn't get a great shot of it, but they formed a line and stayed there, they didn't go inside and come out the other set of stairs or anything remotely tactical.

They had the east side locked up tight, as soon as folks walked up the stairs, FLASH BANG. Then TEAR GAS. But the genius capitol police fired their canisters upwind and only THEY caught the gas LOL. There were 8-10 cops getting water poured in their eyes, of which I got a brief shot of.

Man, I can't tell you how weird it felt when they didn't hold their easily holdable perimeter. Twilight Zone. They had police ushers to make sure the apprehensive protestors knew that it was OK to cross the initial perimeter. I saw 1, myself and video of another on the East Side of the Cap.

"Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks..." Those sure are hard things to wrap my head around, especially considering the context. I try to be thankful even in the murky times in life, though I fail. I am surely thankful that forgiveness was already provided. And I need to do better at being in a constant state of prayer.
