Ya this is the real story. It's not just the White House, but most of DC. There's no way for 1 president to "drain the swamp". He doesn't even have the authority to fire a lot of the unelected, permanent deep state. It will take at least a generation to do that, and only if we somehow put key people in strategic positions.
Which is why I keep urging our side to get behind 2 related initiatives. End the fed and repeal the 16th amendment. If you wipe out our insane fiat currency system, you remove the government's ability to blink debt into existence, at our expense, to fund this bureaucratic nightmare. Let's sweep the legs out right from under them.
It's going to happen eventually anyway, and it will be a lot better for us if we choose to end it, instead of it taking us down with it. The number of positive things that would occur because of those two changes is immeasurable.
Well actually, thanks to the petrodollar, we're effectively the world's welfare case. We blink unprecedented amounts of debt into existence and devalue our currency at their expense in the process. If any countries get out of line, we bomb the shit out of them. Ask Saddam or Gaddafi.
The Saudis, and many others, exclusively sell their oil in US dollars and then turn around and spend it on US treasury bills. It's a hell of a system, but unfortunately when it meets its inevitable end, the US economy goes with it, thanks to about 70 years of increasingly obnoxious spending.
Unfortunately, I think you're right. It's becoming increasingly clear Americans will sit on their couches and knowingly let the noose tighten, as long as they're still comfortable. Which means, as soon as the noose is inescapable, all that comfort can be ignored.

It doesn't help that it's being pushed relentlessly by one of the most obnoxiously rich people in the world, who happens to be a eugenicist and child of the former leader of Planned Parenthood, who seems to have made decreasing global populations one of his life's goals.

Don't forget Syria and possibly Iran. The Saudis want both regimes gone, and because of their central role in the petrodollar, we're obliged to keep them happy. The Biden administration will resist Iran as best they can, but the current Syrian regime will be dealt with one way or another.
