It wouldn't matter much. Regardless of the legal framework behind the merits of the court having the jurisdiction to hear it or not, they said that if they had agreed to let it proceed, none of the justices would have provided relief.

Yeah..that’s how the decisions work. If the state Supreme Court doesn’t act then that is their supreme ruling inside the state. It’s the same principle for the federal level and the SCOTUS. Except the federal government can’t interfere with state rights, nor should they. We don’t get unlimited recourse.
