Whew! I thought you meant the ice cream company. Couldn't figure out why they would be talking about hair.
I dunno, looking at those pictures... I might be biased against hiring that white girl in the second panel with the patchouli in her hair.
"There will be a vaccine next week" isn't a lie.
No prediction about the future can be a lie.
Just to be fair, I've never heard him say "next week". I haven't even heard him put any hard deadline on a vaccine. He keeps saying hopefully soon, probably before the end of this year, etc - clearly optimistic and meant to show that they're working hard on it.
the 90's were better, economically.
the 80's started with stagflation. the 2 oil crises in 1973 and 1979 were huge price shocks and caused high inflation. as that inflation worked itself through the economy, jimmy carter's fed chairman paul volcker used it as an excuse to raise short term interest rates to 20%, killing the economy to break the unions.
reagan was elected at the end of 1980 when rates were killing us, and did nothing about it. he got credit when rates started coming down in 1981 and 1982, though. and volcker got credit for beating inflation, based on nothing.
the recession had been so bad there were tent cities all over the place. like, not just places with mild winters like we have today; places like new york city had huge tent cities.
the economy did get better and better after 1981, but it wasn't like today. half the banking system went bankrupt because of volcker in the s&l crisis. then volcker's replacement greenspan started raising rates again in 1987, leading to black monday.
... also, we all learned about crack. crack was the 1980's social equivalent of fentanyl, but with a lot more urban gang wars.
I don't get what everyone in this thread is mad about.
People all over the place are making jokes about how Trump is going to kick COVID's butt - this is another joke like that.
Michael Moore made the same joke yesterday about the virus being the one in danger.
