I saw a woman pitching a product on "Shark Tank" this week tell the Sharks that she lives in California. Turns out that California gives residents a "stipend" if they go out on maternity leave. She took a little time off from maternity leave and California sent her a check for $14,000. She used the $14k to develop her product. Not to buy baby food or diapers or pay the pediatrician.
