Every single country had camps during the war, even the "neutral" countries held prisoners. Plenty of people died from starvation or typhus which spread via lice.
The Germans camps where pretty unique on that instance since they deloused their prisoners before entering the camps to prevent any diseases from entering while Gulags for instance just worked people to death.
What's even more ironic is that fact that out of all camps, the German camps might have been the least horrible camps to stay in.

- Arrest developers who live in the US for contributing to the project
- Force ISP's to block access to the front end sites, making it harder for the average Joe to access the content (which would still be accessible on chain)
- Scare people who operate nodes or mining equipment within the US
- Scare investors within the US which would reduce the fiat exchange rate on their stash of tokens, which could harm development as long as developers expect to get paid.

Tho there's still a risk considering how China typically interfere with anything happening there. We have no idea if the Chinese miners are affiliated with the government or run their operation undercover.
I've also never been a big fan of SHA256 since the ASIC miner was invented and started to mass produce in China. Ethereum and Monero is the way to go, both are primarily mined in the US and Europe using GPU's.
Your cute little GPU with it's 100MH/s is just a drip in the ocean compared to the total hash rate of this peer-to-peer network which is currently: 164.25 EH/s.

It's basic math really, because one single entity must take control over 51% of the hash rate to have any control at all in terms of censorship or delaying transactions.
If any government had that power and decided to abuse it, we the people can simply fork Bitcoin, which basically clones it into two versions which is initially identical. We have Bitcoin gov (where government can fuck around as they wish because of their SHA256 domination) and we have Bitcoin original (where we the people agreed to change mining algorithm).
What happens next is that the government now sit in the cesspool with billions of dollars in debt and millions of worthless SHA256 mining machines, and they won't get the mining profit of about a million dollar per hour which they would have gotten from simply mining fair by the rules.
See there's an economical incitement here, and for now China is more interested in making money, assuming their government takes most of the profit. If China or any other government ever change their mind and decides to fuck around instead we the people fuck them instead and change the algorithm. Now we the people has the majority of all computers/gpus/devices and therefore we win the hash war.
Globalist scum bankers want you to believe that, which is why they use such a fucked up counting method. Verifying 1MB of data every 10 minute doesn't take more than one single 3W computer, the high energy usage comes from greed which is an important component in decentralization, the more miners, them ore secure network, but why mine if you don't get paid for it people might ask.
But, if high energy usage really become too big of an issue then it's easy to switch algorithm from SHA256 to anything that requires high amount of memory instead of raw computation power, that's also a good way to fuck over China as their specially built ASIC miners would become worthless over night.
That's gonna work out well, like when the government banned drugs, or pirate films distributed over peer-to-peer torrents, or alcohol during probation. People certainly won't continue to use it even tho government can't do anything to stop it.
