In the late 19th–early 20th century, there was a split in the global Jewish community as communism and Zionism increased side-by-side. Some Jews wanted to openly embrace their culture, religion and identity. Others tried to hide and suppress it, because either:
A) As communist revolutionaries, they were also amoral atheists who did not care for such "silly" things, or
B) They realized that openly speaking Yiddish and proclaiming from rooftops that they were Jewish (whilst simultaneously promoting communism) would cause their Gentile neighbors to get wise to what they were doing and become intensely angry against Jews as a whole.
In Soviet Russia there was an organization called the Yevsektsia, which was officially known as the Jewish section of the Communist Party. But despite their name, their actual purpose was to suppress Zionist parties and other nationalistic Jewish groups. They wanted Jews to assimilate into Gentile society, rather than promote their own identity.
You should research the split between the Bolsheviks and the Bund. The Bolsheviks (and Mensheviks) filled their ranks with Jews, but many of them rejected their cultural and religious heritage, thus hiding their identity to some extent. Still, they still considered one another Jewish by blood, no matter their religious attitude.

- Rosenbaum is a well-known Jewish name
- Huber is a lesser-known, but still Jewish surname, recognized as such here, here, here, and here
- Grosskreutz is a less certain German name, BUT according to this page, he has family/neighbors who are quite possibly Jewish, with names such as Bingenheimer (definitely Jewish name), Powalisz (a Polish name), and Uelmen (possibly a variant of the Jewish Ulman).
So they were three criminal, communist, ethnically Jewish men it would seem.
