The people in charge of the democrat party advertised themselves for sale because they've never had principles. A similar thing happened in the Republican party, but they've had less bad apples (it's about 20% ok in Republican party vs 0.1% in Democrat)
But them being that way isn't what allows them to get away with what they do. It's the communist propaganda techniques that do. That's why they took over the education system and indoctrinated in communist values (not corporatist ones) then used that with the control of the media to brainwash the low information normies.
The difference between that, and effective communism, is basically nothing. Communism never is achieved in principle -- it is always reduced to cronyism in practice because logistically that is the only way it can "function" in any form.
