Actually, he's now got a minority government, which means most voters preferred someone else. But since I'm being brutally honest, all the major leaders were soy boys. Worse, there's not a Margaret Thatcher or Boris Johnson in sight.

As foolish as Francis is, the Catholic Church has survived other threats and probably will get through this one too, although it might have to go through a couple more popes to do so. I think Benedict's heart was in the right place, but he didn't have the mental/physical stamina to see things through. God willing, the next election will pick someone more like Trump, who, despite constant opposition, will "make Catholicism great again".

My question is, was FISA already corrupt, or did it take Obama to exploit its protections to corrupt it?

It took Mugabe something like 20 years to make Zimbabwe's Supreme Court his plaything. For Obama to have tainted America's security apparatus in only 8 years shows that while he was ineffectual in helping Americans at large, he was quite good at turning the swamp to benefit himself and his friends.

Not sure it will. There's an ideological war going on and in order for Israel to get a much greater measure of security, it has to irradicate/forbid Islam from its area of control. However, to do this Israel would have to fundamentally shift from the freedoms that it shares with the West.

I think that Israel knows very well what the realities are, and that ceasefire negotiations are paper-thin stopgaps before the next palestinian atrocity.

Some Canadians might lecture, just as some Americans do, but as an official statement? Doubtful. For the most part, I would say that Canada's immigration system is more rigorous than America's. The only exception is when Justin Trudeau, AKA Obama "lite", lets in hundreds of thousands of so-called refugees.

It could be wishful thinking, but it's looking like more and more Americans are coming around to Trump, not least because of the economy. De Niro might have thought that his public hatred was a safe bet, but I wonder whether he might be tanking his career.

This is one actor who is not stupid. Whatever he really thinks, keeping his thoughts to himself upsets not only the fewest fans but the producers and directors and agents who give him work. We can agree that a person's politics shouldn't matter, but it does, and Hopkins knows it.

I could be wrong, but my impression was that Trump was saying "stupid" as he recounted the story to Wead, not that Trump actually directly called Obama that.

It's not just the Witch of the Wretched who says such garbage. A TDS sufferer I know says this very same thing about Carson. If it's a left-wing meme, I have no idea where its source is.

> The secretary of the U.S. Navy said he doesn’t consider a tweet by President Donald Trump an order and would need a formal order to stop a review of a sailor who could lose his status as a Navy SEAL.

I should feel sorry for the guy, but I don't. You come at the king, you best not miss.

Has the Catholic Church given the keys to the Beast (666 is its number)?

Even if he were good, taking him into your team would be like inviting a venomous snake into your home.

That's huge. I predict that in years to come, American politics will be labelled "Before Trump" and "After Trump". And with the Dems running the House, he's doing all he's doing with one arm tied behind his back.
