The best way to put it is the Texas case was not part of the plan, but a welcome one. I believe there isn't much to it other than the SCOTUS deciding they don't want to set the precedent of other states suing each other for election matters. However, it gave the Trump-appointed judges a way to "prove" themselves of being unbiased. The decision also proved that the case was a sound one, but rather just had an issue on standing.
To answer your question, I don't think Trump told the Supreme Court behind the scenes to do anything.

Pretty sure they are taking his speech on Thanksgiving out of context. If I remember correctly, they grilled him to answer the question, "Will you concede?" He responded that he would if Biden was found to be the legal President. Obviously the media will try to spin that to mean the electoral college vote.
