I really hope so. Unfortunately his endorsements haven't always been the best, and can actually derail true MAGA candidates. I hope he's got better advisors around him now, and stops listening to Graham and McConnel (I noticed he didn't have any negative comment for him during his speech).

I thought it would be early summer before we saw the truly insane stuff start to happen. Nope! First day!

I would absolutely support the man who incited an insurrection as GOP presidential nominee in 2024.

Does Mitch think we're all going to forget about that speech he made after the sham impeachment trial? He claimed then that Trump was responsible; so logically saying he supports Trump now, means he supported the "insurrection".

I hope Trump doesn't somehow fall for this BS from him and Graham.

not really. That's how our government is meant to operate. The issue is that those 535 people don't represent the 300 million like they are supposed to.

The GOP are a bunch of idiots. Now, along with saying "They'll repeal Roe v Wade" and "White Supremacy" the Democrats can say "They'll strip Trans people of their rights", every freaking election. This has be be fought hard now, or it can't ever be fought again. They are literally just handing the left talking points now. But hey, why represent your constituents when you can virtue signal to your BFF across the aisle?

and that's also why that statement is racist. It assumes non-white people have none of these qualities. They are basically saying "These people are uncivilized. You are better than they are; but you should pretend not to be."

This really should get a sticky. I'm not done watching it yet; but so far it's really tying everything together.

The stuff about Ali Alexander is especially interesting, because I remember several people here at the start saying to be very wary of him, and then I did see him kind of take over stop the steal, and then try and frame the original starters of it a few weeks back, saying they were behind the what happened at the capitol.

This also really makes me think about the shift in attitude around here starting in December and leading up to January 6th. It never seemed entirely natural. Some threads and comments only seemed to exist to rile people up or to bring guns into DC were the gun restrictions are common knowledge. Then it all stopped after that day. I think someone was really trying to prep us to do something. It's pretty clear they had more planned; but not enough people went along with it. We may have just barely dodged a bullet. Very spooky.

I don't agree with everything presented; but it's still very interesting to look at and consider.

What?

Where's the "hopium"? I said he could theoretically do that. In response to the comment that becoming speaker of the house would be a demotion. And it could be done. I didn't say he would try, or that he has some secret plan to retake the White House that way, nor do I think he'd even want to take the position of Speaker. I was just sating what was possible not probable.

As I understand it ESL can be easier than CC during live events because the CC can take time to get out accurately quickly.

Speaker of the house is only 2 spots away from being president. Theoretically he could impeach both Biden and Harris, and become president that way then run in 2024 and so get another 6 years. Either way though, Speaker of the House is a very powerful position. Look at all the havoc Pelosi has caused with it and imagine what someone like Trump could do if he was in change of half the legislative branch. I don't think he'd do it though. I think you're right and he would see it as a demotion, or just too much trouble.

white people are socialized to feel that they are inherently superior because they are white

Yeah, no. I was never taught that. I don't think anyone has been taught anything like that in the last 70 or so years. I was always taught everyone was equal and that racism is bad, and they never said racism against who, it was just bad in general from anyone against anyone.

They haven't learned yet. Trump was the dam not the faucet. Even if he tried "reuniting" it wouldn't work. We would just find a new representative for MAGA.

He can't reunite because we won't reunite.

Barnes has unfortunately been right about a lot of things the past 4 months.

Did anyone really believe they would take any of them?

I didn't. I figured the at most they would take up one of the Kraken cases just to deliberately rule against it.

Yep. ACB and Lagoa were the two top choices. Mitch always pushed members of the federalist society, and so we got ACB. I had a very bad feeling when ACB got the nomination. I hate that that feeling was proven correct and I hate that Trump felt he could trust McConnell.

Crowds of people, especially emotionally charged ones, are easily lead into doing things they wouldn't normally do.

They spent weeks planning it. They probably started just after Trump announced the protest. I saw posts here, and there were probably other elsewhere, from brand new accounts trying to rile people up and convince them that the President wanted something like that to happen. I didn't work to the effect that I think they wanted; but there was a noticeable change in attitude around here that persisted right up until the 6th.

Combine that with the strange lack of security. Even less than what would normally be there, and Trump's offer of national guard troops being denied, and you get what we saw.

People talk about "PsyOps". That's what it was.

At the moment I don't see what's stopping everyone from just saying "Oh yeah, I totally got it." They want proof, then show them a fake doctors note. They want more proof, too bad they have no right to see your medical information. Those kind of authoritarian laws haven't been passed (yet).
