Florida resident here who has voted by mail for president in the last 3 elections. Voting for Trump by mail in the upcoming election. President Trump is saying we do it right because we do it right. Heres how Florida works: You request mail in ballot, your address is verified by the address on your state ID, you sign your ballot when you mail it in and the signature is verified with the signature on your state ID. Ballots don't get mailed to illegals. After you cast your vote, you can log into a state run election site and verify it was received and counted - as secure as vote in person with as many checks along the way. We avoid long lines, standing in the heat and we can vote way in advance. I would suggest those of you in states where they are implementing to ask your state officials to require a similar process. So in summary, since President Trump cannot take away something we've had here in Florida for over a decade especially since he uses this method to vote here in Florida (his official residence is Mar a Lago) he supports it. I agree it is a little confusing because it seems like he is contradicting himself - I think he should be shaming the other states into implementing a method like we have here in Florida. Maybe he doesn't have time - his constituents should pick up the slack.

I also have another idea - if every registered Republican said we're all voting by mail and followed thru - you could easily detect any fraud. The state has a tally of registered Republicans - if they all vote Trump, then the numbers should at least match. Someone also mentioned older folks enjoying this mail in - I am getting older, but I've been doing this for 12 years - its convenient, you don't have to take time off work, you don't have to stand in lines and I actually think it lessens the chance an illegal is voting.

Fixing potential problems before they become problems is a much wiser path than just saying "no". I'm sure "standing up" isn't going to stop the mail in ballots since those screeching communists make up 1/2 of america - plus you have the elderly conservatives (like my father) that want to vote for President Trump but are afraid of catching COVID and won't go to the voting booth.

I think President Trump knows vote by mail is coming to many states and is why he keeps mentioning it. He wants voters to do something to make sure it isn't fraudulent - he is also is looking for alternate ideas - like moving the election date.

I presented one idea, and you just saying "no" is another - but even if all Republicans - even the ones you call RINOs join with you, the only states that you're going to make a difference in are red states and if the government in those states are Republican led, then they should be able to weed out any voter fraud - or they aren't doing their job. How about we come up with some other ideas to make sure we have a fair election?

wow - good to know about Canada - didn't think you were burdened with tons of regulations - i grew up in Ohio near steel mills and that industry is mostly gone to china. the towns that were once awesome places to live aren't anymore. I now live in Florida. Moved here when I turned 30. As high and college school kids we visited Canada a few times because it was legal to drink at 18. I remember a friend who smoked was pissed at the price of cigarette there and we found out there was a few people that made a living out of transporting cigarettes from the US to Canada and selling at a markup (still cheaper than buying in Canada). I am not sure if that import taxes or due to some sort of sin tax. Years back I was speaking with a 30ish year old Canadian who loved the health care system up there. I don't know a lot about it, but we are told there are long waiting lines and a lot of red tape when you socialize medicine instead of having private care as we do here. Whenever I mentioned to a friend here, their take was it is good if you just go to regular scheduled visits but the emergency rooms care isn't as good once socialized. The Canadian I mentioned said dental, vision and hearing was all included and wa shocked some people in the states didn't have dental or vision care I am not old enough, but from what I understand vision and dental isn't included in medicare benefits here in the states either (medicare being our closest thing to socialized medicine). Whats your insight on healthcare there vs here?

No i don't think big tech should be in charge of history since it would be easy for them to change the narrative. just trying to think up a solution for this situation and i thought i had a cool idea. We seem to be slowly offshoring everything in America and I took an easy shot at you since you were not living in this country - that is not your fault - it was a crappy deal made when the Democrats were in charge. I am not sure how you feel about NAFTA, but it seems Canada and Mexico made out better than the USA. There are many people on this forum that simply agree there are problems but offer no solutions - or even think about other opportunities that are available. I want to help come up with solutions and really examine all aspects of problems - cause we may be missing something if we just repeat problems someone else stated instead of listening to the problem and offering a solution for discussion. again - what are you doing about this issue? why are you not trying to help our president? I am giving you solutions for when your state officials enact vote by mail. President Trump can't force states to disallow vote by mail. The democrats are crying for it, it is going to happen. I am not crazy, President Trump is warning you and asking you to enact change in your state. If you can stop vote by mail in your state do it - if you cannot stop it (which is going to be the case for most states), best do your damnedest to make sure it is as secure as possible. If you are not part of the solution, then stop trying to i people who are tossing out solutions. Referencing a warning from the President isn't a solution - do some work!

I agree with your last paragraph 100% - it is what I was saying with my initial post. I was trying to come up with a solution for your personal issue with the statue at kittyhawk. The virtual statue may not be the answer - I am just trying to throw out ideas. Truth is that statue probably won't fall and we're wasting time discussing it and the town near it. If the statue helps the local economy and it most likely won't be vandalized then why waste time discussing? I also wonder why we have canadians commenting in American matters?

Going to try this another way and see if it is more effective: I am very confident in my state's (Florida) vote by mail system. I have used it in the past 3 presidential elections and many state and local elections in between. I think I trust it more than our state's vote in person system. Since most states are going to be forced into allowing some form of mail in voting, why not advocate for a system similar to Florida's?

Florida's vote by mail system:

1. Voter must request mail in ballot - ballots are not just sent to everyone

• election officials verify your request form data matches the data they have on file from state issued IDs - so home address is verified and you won't get a ballot if you request it be mailed somewhere that is different than the address on your state ID. Citizenship could be verified at this time as well (I don't want people to argue non citizens can get driver's licences in their state)

• so now we've made sure only real people who are citizens are receiving a ballot

2. Voter must sign ballot across a seal that encloses the ballot

• election officials match this signature to the signature on file (on your state issued ID) thus doing an identity check. This with the address match should be sufficient enough to verify it came from the correct voter

3. Voter is given the opportunity to log into the states website and verify their vote was accepted - If it is rejected, voter can go to poll with proof.

This is how we do it in Florida and it has been working for many years. I posted here hoping people would ask how I am confident in my state's vote by mail so they can advocate these checks are in place in their state. I feel President Trump's messages about potential mail in fraud is a request for us to take an active role in ensuring that mail in voting is regulated and not fraudulent in our states. You can do this by calling your election office and government officials and demand a secure system. I believe mail in voting is coming to all states - you need to do your part to ensure it is secure. I have got a lot of messages about my comment but no one is offering a solution - most just keep saying it can't be accomplished without risk of fraud occurring. Please read how we've been doing it Florida, add other security checks and submit it to your state's officials as a plan. Get people on board to demand there are security checks like we have in Florida. Then when they institute vote by mail your can rest knowing you at least tried and hopefully succeeded in making your vote by mail more secure.
