I’m a voter in WI. I did in-person absentee voting last weekend. When I was given the envelope for my ballot, which includes the voter’s information (name, DOB, address, etc) I was told to complete the name and DOB field. There was no DOB field on the form. In the address area, where it said “Rt. Number”, there was a line through that field in ballpoint pen, and then someone had scrawled “DOB” in chicken scratch next to it. So, I entered my DOB in the “route number” field, and I thought it was super sketchy. Guess I was correct.

Literally none of the assertions you’ve made about what Catholics believe here are even close to accurate. There are indeed some very corrupt people in high ranking positions in the Church, but that doesn’t make the teachings untrue. Also, the Catholic Church has declared communism incompatible with our beliefs, anyone who espouses communism is excommunicated https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decree_against_Communism

Papal Infallibility doesn’t mean the pope is perfect. The pope could be a totally corrupt atheist and he would still be pope (although, like anyone else, he’d go to hell when he died if he didn’t repent). All that the doctrine of papal infallibility means is that the Holy Spirit protects the Church by not allowing a pope to change anything incorrectly that is related to doctrine. It protects him from heresy. The Pope must be speaking “ex-Cathedra” on an issue of doctrine to invoke Papal Infallibility. This is rare—so rare that it’s only happened twice—in 1854 (regarding the immaculate conception of Mary), and in 1950 (regarding the bodily assumption of Mary into heaven when she died). In both instances, popes consulted widely with scholars and bishops to make these decisions. As well, these decrees only made official (on paper) beliefs what the majority of the Church has understood as truth since the beginning. Unlike in Protestant churches, doctrine isn’t a matter of democracy or popularity, which is why the Catholic faith has refused to bow down to the left on issues like birth control or gay marriage.

I can refute any of your other claims too, if anyone wants, but I needed to provide this explanation lest anyone thinks the drivel that oomuu wrote is correct.

Pope Francis is not my favorite. I think he’s a progressive boomer in a lot of ways, and his views on what is most important in the world right now are sometimes misguided...however, he’s still the Pope, and it doesn’t really matter who the pope is, because the Holy Spirit prevents him from changing or inventing Heretical doctrines. If a pope declares Chocolate ice cream to be the best ice cream, his opinion holds no more weight than yours or mine. If he declares climate change to be the biggest problem in the world, same thing. The pope is just a man, prone to sin and error, like anyone else.

Yeah...but actual third world countries have not yet been ruined ideologically with liberalism. Maybe because that shit doesn’t fly when you have to work or literally starve? Some of the poorest nations in Africa are the places where Christianity is growing by leaps and bounds. I know this sub isn’t religiously affiliated, but trust me, that “there are 17 genders and we should teach kids about anal sex” is not gonna fly in a religious nation. I say we organize the “new UN” around ideologies and leave all the “rich” communist nations to fend for themselves (spoiler alert: they won’t last long since their citizens won’t be able to be productive—they’re too busy rioting and throwing tantrums because their fee fees got hurt to contribute anything to boost their GDPs)
