Before I even knew this, I knew it was fake news. Double whammy. The claim was "substantial minority interest" red flags went up. What does that mean exactly, to have minority interest... Well, it means you don't have majority interest (i.e. you do not have veto over the decisions). If I invest in a mutual fund, and there is a company in there, say CNN's parent company, and then CNN sells a percentage of shares to a Chinese owned company, financed by the bank of China, I then end up "Owing China Money".
