It's all a matter of taste, I suppose. I watch most of my anime subbed, but I prefer the English Dub for some shows, such as, Cowboy Bebop, Fullmetal Alchemist, Hellsing, etc. To each their own.
Regardless, Black Lagoon is a great series.
Imagine if Quentin Tarantino made an anime. That's Black Lagoon. The English dub is excellent.
I heard about it before, but not before I was an adult. From what I understand, it's a holiday that's celebrated more in the black community, particularly in certain regions.
I do think that the MSM was using it an excuse to call President Trump racist, but I don't have anything against the holiday itself. The abolition of the slavery was one of the most important events in American history, regardless of what your race or ancestry is. I wouldn't mind seeing Juneteenth become more mainstream.
I just want to say how much I love Dave Rubin. He's an example of a truly open-minded interviewer who is trying to get at the truth, instead of pushing a political or social agenda. Not only has he not taken down, or deceptively edited that video, but he points it out to people who are unaware of it. He even jokes about it in other interviews, saying that Larry Elder "proceeded to commit a hate crime on me, a white man; he beat me senseless with statistics." Taking your failures in stride is the key to growth.

This has been a problem plaguing the black community since the start. The major difference being, prior to the 60s, this faction of the community had less political power.
Boogaloo Boys: Has one week of history. "Totally a legit far-right terrorist org."
Antifa: Has a nearly century of history. "Um, actually Antifa doesn't actually exist."
Let's just be clear, 40% of black Americans support Donald Trump, not necessarily the Republican Party. Donald Trump may just be a candidate with wide cross-party appeal, like Ronald Reagan. This does not mean that they will vote for other Republicans after President Trump leaves office.

There's such a difference between Star Trek before and after Star Trek: Discovery. Before Discovery, men and women, people of all races, and humans and aliens worked together to solve problems and improve life for everyone. From Discovery onward, it's just a barrage of the women disrespecting and denigrating the men, regardless of the men's skill or rank.

Thomas Sowell shared an anectdote of when he and his wife lived in a mafia neighboorhood, in one of his books. He said that street crime was essentially non-existent, because no one wanted to risk accidentally mugging a mob boss' mother or sister.
And then when the Marxists say, "well that wasn't real Marxism," what it really means, and I've thought about this for a long time, it's the most arrogant, possible statement that anyone could ever make. It means, "if I would have been in Stalin's position, I would have ushered in the damn utopia, instead of the genocidal massacres, because I understand the doctrine of Marxism and everything about me is good!" Well think again, sunshine! You don't understand it. You don't understand it and you're not that good. And if the power was in your hands, assuming you had the competence, which you don't, you wouldn't have done any better. And even if you had, there would have been someone else waiting right behind you to shoot you the first time you actually tried to do anything good. And that's what happened to all the old guard who ran the damn revolution; Stalin rounded them all up and shot them, along with their families and millions of other people. So even if you do happen to be that avatar of moral purity that you claim implicitly, the probability that you'd get to act out your goodness, in relationship to those possessed by your ideology, is zero.

Somalia tried Communism under Siad Barre. It went about as well as every other Communist regime in history.
No doubt that heavy metal can have some pretty violent content. But, the key difference is that it's marketed as a fantasy. These musicians are acting out a persona and the listeners know that. No one thinks that Alestorm are actually 18th century pirates, or that Amon Amarth are actually Viking raiders. Metal musicians are not hardcore criminals, with the exception of some small scenes, like 90s Norwegian Black Metal.
In contrast, in the majority of Hip Hop culture there's an expectation that you be "authentic." And part of being authentic is being an actual criminal with a history. It's held up to be a badge of honor. And I say this as someone who actually likes a fair amount of rap and hip hop. But I'm disgusted with how stagnant the genre has been, telling the same vapid materialistic stories over and over.
Unless you're a Maori warrior, I just don't get it.
I'm not a square. I can appreciate alternative looks and fashion. I'm a guy, and I've had long hair at times. I even had a mohawk one summer in my twenties. I have pierced ears. Yet none of my fashion choices were permanent and irrevocable, except for the pierced ears. And the pierced ears barely count, because I can choose not to wear earrings and the holes are barely noticeable. I don't understand how these people can make such permanent changes to their appearance. You're nuking your opportunities, even decades in the future.
